Mission

The Maine Immigrant's Rights Coalition (MIRC)'s mission is to improve the legal, social, and economic conditions experienced by Maine's immigrants, enhancing their lives and strengthening Maine through advocacy, information sharing, and fostering collaboration among member organizations. MIRC's core constituency includes an estimated 54,525 immigrants and refugees, including asylum seekers, undocumented people, and their native children from diverse countries who are living throughout Maine. The population we serve drastically increased since summer with the sudden arrival of over 400 asylum seekers in Portland. MIRC represents eleven ethnicities from the North and Central African, Middle East, Asian, African American, and Latinx communities.
