HumanitiesDC connects curious people with bold questions to the powerful stories of our city through community centered grantmaking, partnerships, and public programs in all eight Wards. We serve as the federally designated humanities council for the District of Columbia. In 2023, we supported 63 public humanities projects through $1,040,000 in grants. Our partners include DC/Dox, DC History Center, the DC Public Library, universities, community-based organizations, and independent practitioners. We provide free public programs throughout the city, including an annual grantee showcase, curated monthly Culture Series, Oral History Collaborative training workshops, and our newest offering, the Community Journalism Program.
