MissionGeneration West Virginia's mission is to equip young West Virginians with key skills and career opportunities, ensuring their ability to thrive and remain in the Mountain State.
What We DoGeneration West Virginia leads job training, placement, and retention programs:
NewForce: A six-month, fully remote, free software development training program. We train 40 West Virginians every year and help them get well-paying careers at West Virginia-based companies like Core10, IBM, the State of WV, Oktana, and more. We have an 85% placement rate, and our graduates' average starting salary is $48,000.
GWV Fellowship: Every year, up to 30 young professionals complete this professional development program. It helps young people develop the skills they need to advance in the workplace, and it helps employers retain their young talent.
Career Connector: Our workforce development hub that connects West Virginia job seekers and employers. We help employers get their jobs in front of our large network of young West Virginians - and we even recruit quality candidates for WV employers. Our platform reached more than 100,000 people in the last quarter.
Broadband: We work closely with the State Broadband Office to help get more West Virginians connected to high-speed internet. Since 2022, we've provided grant-writing and project management support that has led to $46.4 million in state and federal broadband funds in West Virginia.
