Mission

Food AND Medicine is a grassroots, member-based organization that organizes, educates and empowers the low-income and working class community of Eastern Maine to address issues stemming from and causing poverty. We partner with unions, faith-based and BIPOC-led organizations, farms and community groups to create solutions toward positive change. We view our work as solidarity, not charity.

What We Do

We use a hybrid of direct service and grassroots organizing. Our main programs include organizing a network of 22+ collective gardens in low-income housing and recovery locations; civic engagement; organizing for improved public transportation, food access, unemployment assistance and racial justice.
