Mission

The Environmental Defender Law Center (EDLC) works to protect the human rights of people in developing countries whose health, environment, and way of life are threatened by resource development projects and climate change.

What We Do

EDLC works with lawyers to bring cases in national courts, and often provides funding for litigation costs. EDLC also enlists scientific experts to work on cases and serve as expert witnesses; serves as an advisor and liaison to the lawyers and their clients; and prepares legal briefs on international human rights law for use in the cases.
