What We Do

Ele's Place is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to creating awareness of and support for grieving children, teens and their families at no cost. One in 12 children in Michigan will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18. Grieving children and teens need access to a supportive environment and compassionate programming. Ele's Place peer support groups focus on the mental and emotional health of children and teens, helping them learn to cope with the death of a parent, sibling or significant person in their life. Ele's Place provides a space where conversations about death, and the feelings and emotions that accompany death, are normal and encouraged. Licensed social workers oversee our on-site peer support groups and clinical consultations by phone or in person. We also offer Ele's Group to area middle and high schools to serve teens who may experience barriers to attending our in-house programs.
