Mission

CDI's (Comprehensive Development, Inc.) mission is to fill the persistent academic and social gaps that keep our students behind their middle class peers by providing services that public schools simply can’t afford. We are a nonprofit organization that provides disadvantaged New York City high school students with intensive, individualized academic and support services to help them graduate and succeed in college and careers.

What We Do

For nearly two decades CDI has helped to change the lives of disadvantaged New York City public high school students. Our students come from all over the city and around the world. Two-thirds of them have already aged out of traditional schools and are one step away from failing; the rest are at risk of dropping out.

We parnter with three NYC public high schools, serving 3,500 urban students and alumni annually. We provide intensive college and career preparedness to engage students while in high school and prepare them for post-graduate success, through one-on-one advising, career exploration and planning, experiential internships, job training and certificate programs. And it works. Students who receive CDI services are more likely to graduate, get into and stay in college at higher rates than students who don’t get services. The relationships CDI builds with our students don’t end at graduation – we continue to provide graduates with support and resources as they build successful adult lives.
