Mission

To increase access to the outdoors for communities impacted by racial, socio-economic, and disability injustices by eliminating existing barriers through advocacy, community centered programming, and workforce development.

What We Do

Community Nature Connection, formerly the Mountains Education Program, was established as a non-profit organization in 1989 and was reimagined into Community Nature Connection (CNC) in 2016. We remain committed to providing equitable access to the outdoors for communities throughout Los Angeles County.

We envision a world where all communities impacted by systems of injustice and oppression have access to public spaces outdoors and are supported by an unwavering commitment to accessibility, community, equity, inclusion, justice, and shared leadership. We collaborate with community based organizations to provide inclusive programs that directly address barriers to access.

We serve youth, school groups, and multigenerational audiences through a variety of programs including recreation programs, youth leadership programs, public programs, and workforce development programs.
