Mission

CitySprouts school garden program helps public schools integrate garden-based learning in schools’ curriculum and culture. We address 21st century needs: hands-on learning in our public school system; good food choices for life-long health, and building a relationship with nature in urban environments.

Working with city schools and neighborhoods, our garden-based learning programs foster children’s well being in body, mind and spirit. Our programs resonate especially in neighborhoods where there are fewer places for children to safely explore nature, where fresh and local produce is difficult to access, and where schools struggle to engage children in learning that leads to success.
