As America's definitive 'third stream' orchestra, we provide rich, multi-cultural music experiences that bridge gaps in jazz and classical genres. Our performances entertain and inspire, and our community-based education programs improve lives — from school age through adulthood.
What We Do
Chicago Jazz Philharmonic is a 55+ piece jazz orchestra led by composer, trumpeter and conductor Orbert Davis, one of Chicago's most talented musicians. Over the past ten years the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic has delighted audiences in such major venues as the Auditorium Theatre, Symphony Center, and Millennium Park. The organization also provides music education to students in Chicago Public Schools and local communities through its Jazz Alive program and summer Jazz Academy.
"Bristling innovation and mainstream melody-making classical modernism and free jazz improvisation — all these elements, and others, converge when CJP takes the stage."
— Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune
