What We Do

Founded in 1999, BUILD is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to ignite the potential of youth in under-resourced communities to build Career success, Entrepreneurial mindsets, and Opportunity. We help students become the CEO of their own lives! With a focus on racial equity, our vision is for a world where all students--regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or neighborhood-- develop the skills and connections needed to achieve economic power and freedom.

The BUILD experience is a minimum of 60 hours of innovative, turnkey entrepreneurship lessons, event playbooks, and assessments, which combine entrepreneurship education, mentorship, career-connected learning, financial literacy, social-emotional learning (SEL), 21st Century skills, and building social capital-all while changing mindsets, building confidence, and tapping into hidden potential. We offer three full years of sequenced BUILD programming: BUILD Your Business, BUILD Your Voice, and BUILD Your Future (60 hours for each year). Teachers receive training and support from BUILD staff to learn our curriculum, support their students, and run events. Upon completion of the program in high school, students have the opportunity to stay connected through BUILD's Alumni Program offerings.
