Brandworkers is a non-profit membership organization of local food production workers joining together for dignified jobs and a just food system.

What We Do

Demand for locally produced food is soaring. Local food is fresher, better for the environment, and has the potential to create good jobs. But behind the community friendly brands, workers in local food production facilities are behind left behind. The mostly immigrant workers who feed New York face deplorable conditions including wage theft, discrimination, and dangerous working conditions.

Brandworkers helps local food workers in need design, plan, and lead their own campaigns for workplace justice and a better food system. Our members develop as powerful social change leaders in the process and benefit from a vibrant community of committed supporters.

Using our unique worker-led model, Brandworkers has won judgements and settlements of over $2.5 million and achieved dramatic improvements in wages and working conditions. While we have a long way to go, our members have built a strong foundation to create a food system we can all be proud of.
