Mission
Our Mission is to enable young people, especially those furthest from opportunity, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. With a focus on prevention and assets-based program design, its activity array includes Education & Career Development, Sports & Wellness, Health & Life Skills, Arts, and Leadership & Character Development. The organization's core curriculum emphasizes social, cultural, emotional and educational growth among youth, ages 6-18.
What We Do
Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley offers young people what they need and want most: adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits. All Boys & Girls Club programs are based on youth development strategies that build self-confidence and self-esteem and fosters a sense of belonging, mastery, usefulness and influence.
The Club is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations that work to help young people of all backgrounds develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders. It is facility-based; employs 23 paid professional staff members, supplemented by 10 part-time volunteers. It offers daily access to a broad range of programs and activities in six Core Program Areas:
* Education and Career Development
* Character and Leadership Development
* Health and Life Skills
* The Arts
* Sports, Fitness and Recreation
* Family Preservation
In specific response to the Northeast San Fernando Valley needs, Project Learn is part of an array of enticing and enriching programs offered daily at the Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley. The Club is open during after school hours, from 2:00 PM to 7:30 PM, M-F, and during Winter and Summer Breaks for full-day service.
