MissionBike East Bay promotes healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, fun and accessible.
What We DoBike East Bay promotes healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safe, fun, and accessible. Our work has become increasingly urgent with the rise in biking and walking fatalities over the past decade, and growing transportation inequity along racial and economic lines. Black, brown, immigrant, and low-income communities disproportionately live in neighborhoods with dangerous street crossings and high traffic speeds, lack access to public transit, are exposed to high air pollution, and suffer from health disparities due to inactivity. These long-standing injustices are now amplified by displacement and the Bay Area's housing crisis.
Bike East Bay's work is guided by our equity values. We are composed of a 12-person staff, a 12-person board of directors, and 4,000 members. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we empower members, volunteers, and community leaders to become champions for better bicycling and a more equitable transportation system.
