Mission

Bayshore Christian Ministries' mission is to equip youth from East Palo Alto and Belle Haven to grow spiritually, gain life skills and develop as leaders so that they have hope and a future.

What We Do

Currently, BCM operates three different types of programs: academic programs, faith-based programs and leadership development. While there is some overlap of our leadership development and faith-based programs, our academic programs are separate and do not have a religious component. Our academic programs are KidSmart, an afterschool tutoring program for elementary aged students; Create Academy, a 4-week summer program for middle school students focused in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) principles in order to help the students cross the technology gap that exists between them and their Silicon Valley peers; and Create Studios, an afterschool and weekend program for middle school students that provides tutoring and homework assistance along with workshops for focused on STEAM principles including Lego Robotics and art workshops.

Our faith-based programs include weekly Bible Clubs for elementary students that meet throughout East Palo Alto; StreetWorkz, a mentoring program for middle school youth to learn healthy responses to the pressures they face at their age; and LiT (Leaders in Training), a new program providing high school students with mentorship and discipleship focused on leadership, identity and truth. The Summer Internship Program provides leadership development for local teens and young adults as they work as staff for Create Academy. The EPA Fellows Program employs recent college graduates who relocate to East Palo Alto and spend nine months serving in the community while learning urban ministry and being mentored by BCM staff. BCM's property on Beech Street, in the middle of East Palo Alto, houses almost all of BCM programs.
