Mission

Astral is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization that focuses on developing the early careers of extraordinary classical musicians. Since its founding in 1992, Astral has specialized in identifying high-caliber and independent-thinking musicians with the potential to be artistic leaders. Astral concentrates its resources on this small number of rising-star soloists and chamber ensembles and provides them with a pathway to build a future in classical music as artistic visionaries and influencers.

What We Do

Astral's work is structured into three focal areas - Career Development, Astral In Concert, and Community Partnerships. Each program supports the others to develop what Astral identifies as the key success indicators for 21st-century leading musicians: dynamic artistic identity & exploration, socially responsive thinking, excellent communication, self-employment know-how, strong support systems, and consistent industry exposure.
