We need to figure out our mission...
Our current work is two-pronged: strengthening and engaging a coalition to address childhood obesity and supporting direct programming with youth.
Childhood Obesity was identified as a community health issue through Arlington's 2007 Mobilizing for Action planning process. Public and private organizations partnered together. Some previously supported activities include: surveying playgrounds, investing in healthy vending machines, promoting active recess, and completing a community assessment. Most recently, HCAT worked to strengthen the capacity of Arlington Public Schools to encourage preschool children to eat more healthy foods and be more active in their daily lives.
