1:1 Fund is an online matched savings marketplace powered by CFED that promotes educational opportunity for low-income people by encouraging them to invest in their futures, starting with saving for college.

What We Do

The 1:1 Fund is an online fundraising and account management solution for children's savings account (CSA) initiatives that will create a matched savings marketplace promoting educational opportunity for low-income students. Leveraging the power of social media, the 1:1 Fund addresses the primary barrier to the expansion of CSAs: the need for matching funds. Students’ savings in a qualified CSA are matched dollar for dollar by individual donors who use the 1:1 Fund’s website to search for a particular region, age group, or cultural demographic of children whom they would like to support.

After an initial test launch in mid-2012, the 1:1 Fund will steadily expand its reach, eventually becoming the Kiva.org of education finance and a national brand using a matched savings model to fund educational goals. In the next three years, we project having 50,000 students saving in CSAs and building a nest egg to help pay for post-secondary education expenses. With the 1:1 Fund, saving for college will be simple, social, and viral.
