What did carol have to offer?
I first learned about the Garrison Institute from Steve Kent, a colleague with whom I’ve worked with for years. Steve has conducted media outreach for the Institute, particularly the Climate, Mind & Behavior program, whose work seems increasingly relevant, especially given President Obama’s call for behavioral scientists to influence public participation around climate change. At the Rainforest Alliance, I produced viral and critically acclaimed videos that resonated and engaging because they were entertaining and driven by the interests of the target audience as opposed to the nonprofit agenda. I'm a seasoned communications & marketing professional with more than 20 years experience. As the Rainforest Alliance's Director of Communications & Marketing, I was the strategic and creative lead on brand development, content creation and storytelling. I overhauled the brand and website for Sustainable Travel International, making the organization's approach more accessible to businesses and donors. And most recently, I led a stakeholder outreach exercise for the National Parks Service's Potomac Heritage Trail. I'm a clear thinker, a concise writer, skilled at eliminating jargon, and able to put a fresh and engaging spin on listless or obtuse prose.
