What did Liberty in North Korea need?

Cynthia helped Liberty in North Korea improve their visibility in web search results by refreshing their website with clear and engaging copy that incorporates search engine optimization keywords.

Why is this project important?

The success of our organization depends on our ability to clearly communicate the issue we work on, the importance of our work, and the impact that is being made by our supporters. The challenge for us is figuring out how to effectively communicate all of that...while also trying to change the narrative on North Korea.

This project will save us $6,073, allowing us to rescue and help bring to freedom 1 North Korean refugee!

I'm currently the Web Producer at Women in the World. I help manage our websites: "nytimes.com/WomenintheWorld" and "TinaBrownMedia.com." (I also write pieces for our NY Times website.) LiNK's CEO Hannah Song and North Korean defector Yeonmi Park were featured on our stage last week at our 6th annual Women in the World Summit, and I was moved to contribute in any way that I can. I was asked to include the Women in the World/Catchafire link on our website, and when I saw this opportunity on Catchafire, it seemed like the perfect position for me.

I write web copy on a daily basis, and I have a strong background in social media. (I just handled our Women in the World Facebook and Twitter accounts for the summit, and I handle all six of our social media platforms on a regular basis.) I have a lot to offer, and I feel that this would be a great learning opportunity for me.

I'm also Korean-American, with relatives who once lived in North Korea. I've always been horrified by how a regime like North Korea continues to exist, and I've been searching for a way to help. If I don't seem suitable for this website copywriting project, I'm happy to consider other projects, too. (I've also worked for magazines, art galleries, and publishing companies.)
