What did Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative need?

Doug helped Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative * A professional business plan to raise capital more effectively * A internal guide to align its day-to-day operations and goals

Why is this project important?

Our group is growing, our programs and work in forest restoration are outpacing our ability to sustain our non-profit financially. We recognize the need to diversify our funding sources and really need expert advice on how to do this successfully, set realistic goals and perhaps most importantly produce a plan to keep us on track with action items and due by dates!

This project will save us $15,028, allowing us to provide educational opportunities in the forest to 300 children.

My heritage comes from the timber and construction industries in Washington State, SE Alaska, and British Columbia(Canada). I have lead teams developing supply chains and resource acquisitions for major manufacturers(primarily in natural resources), served on Washington State recycling boards/commissions, and worked on Superfund clean up sites. I am a published author of a paper on the sustainable waste stream and uses from a timber harvest region on the Canadian Coast. I transitioned my career from working in construction and forestry to planning and organizing businesses(and non-profits) to capture opportunities. That includes intensive work and experience with indigenous groups, poverty reduction campaigns, and religious non-profits. I've built business plans for economic development in Indian Country(US & Canada) and published white papers on the subject matter. I continue to pursue opportunities for international commerce and economic development in marginalized/disadvantaged communities.

Fun Fact

Fun Fact

We hug trees, literally. We love them, climb them hug them and name many of the trees in the forest preserve. They are our good friends that keep us company in the forest...maybe we need more friends.
