What did Pittsburgh Glass Center need?

Kelli helped Pittsburgh Glass Center enhance their annual reports, grant applications, and other marketing materials with compelling narratives about their organization’s mission, activities, and achievements.

Why is this project important?

People not factories make glass art. They use their art and hands to talk and it's compelling. Glassblowing draws you in, but you have to be here to feel the heat, see the sweat and hear the crackle of the glass. That's hard to communicate in just words. That's why we need help. We want to tell the stories of the people in our community who make glass and explain why this is so much better than the factories of the past. We anticipate that these stories will compel more people to get engaged.

This project will save us $2,397, allowing us to provide free hands-on glass experiences for 100 young people in our neighborhood.

I am a copywriter and content strategist. I have done graphic design work and built and written websites in the past. I love the feeling of completing a successful project, and I’m eager to get started with Catchafire.

I’m also an artist. I teach adults and children as well as show my work. Mainly, I work with eggshells in a tradition similar to pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs).

I’m very involved in my community. I’m a member of the Up Collective, an artist-run community space that serves as a creative gathering for visual arts and music. I also recently started volunteering with A Spacious Place where creativity is nurtured with children and with those with special needs.

In my spare time I lead a book club that focuses on the classics, and I participate in comedy improv at The New Movement.

What did they have to say?

Kelli was a great partner. She interviewed two important PGC patrons and wrote succinct and engaging stories about their relationship with our organization. These will be key to our fundraising activities in the new year. It was enjoyable to work with Kelli. She was fast and kept us informed about the project every step of the way.
