What did Marin History Museum need?

Ann helped Marin History Museum * Advice on how to “market” the organization with limited resources * A plan on how to broaden its reach and support base * Instruction on what are and how to utilize the most effective marketing channels available to them

Why is this project important?

78 years into our community-serving role, the Museum’s managed without discipline of a marketing plan. However, with the advancement of technology and social media, the ad hoc approach no longer works for us. Members, donors and visitors are looking for more. Since April 2013, we’ve cleared a cluttered runway, doing all the right things, with many initiatives underway. To survive/grow, we need the marketing pieces assembled into a structured, manageable Plan. This project will yield a much needed, professionally crafted, multi-media marketing plan that we desperately need in order to sustain and grow.

This project will save us $11,198, allowing us to pay for nearly 2 month's rent on our Craemer Family Collections & Research facility.

What did they have to say?

Ann Dickson as a seasoned marketing professional has come in to help our organization during one of its most difficult of times, and has done an amazing job of developing a respectful road map to our marketing success. Following a very thorough period of due diligence – which included understanding our very complex history and our re-positioning needs -- Ann’s tenacity, focus, on-the-ground flexibility and lots of hard work led to a product upon which we can realistically execute. This is one marketing plan that won’t be sitting on a shelf! If you work with Ann, you can count on a great outcome! Thank you, Catchafire, for coupling Ann Dickson with the Marin History Museum!

I have just finished the marketing project for the Marin History Museum. It was a wonderful experience working with very passionate staff and board. I want to thank Jean Zerrudo, Board President, for all her support and hard work on this project. I have now made great new friends and will continue to be a resource for MHM going forward.

About Marin History Museum

Founded in 1935, the not-for-profit Marin History Museum celebrates the traditions of innovation and creativity of the people of Marin County. Through responsible collection, preservation and exhibition, the Museum provides collaborative educational and programming opportunities to all segments of Marin’s communities.
Fun Fact

Fun Fact

We occupy Boyd Gate House (1879), rumored as cheerfully haunted by residents past. As means of respecting potential spirits, Museum staffers/volunteers take care to bid a hearty “good morning” & “good night” to Violet May -- 14 years old when she passed away there in 1930 of valve heart disease.

This is the 2nd project posted by Marin History Museum.
