Mission

The mission of Green Plus / the Institute for Sustainable Development is to democratize triple bottom line sustainability by making it accessible to smaller employers and their communities, and by fostering a new generation of sustainability leaders.

What We Do

The Institute for Sustainable Development helps small and medium-sized employers integrate best business, environmental, and employee practices through Green Plus, our national certification program, and through the Environmental Help Desk for Business (www.envirohelpdesk.com), a free portal providing advice to businesses on environmental innovation and navigating green supply chain requirements. The Institute is a national partnership of universities and chambers of commerce. Green Plus, the nation's only triple bottom line certification program specifically aimed at SMEs, pairs education, coaching for businesses by graduate students and peer businesses, and a credible, affordable certification for those businesses that are exceptional in sustainable management. The environmental help desk is a partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center, which convenes the world's largest companies that are committed to strong environmental and social standards for doing business.
